Chirag Paswan to Contest Bihar Assembly Polls – Vows to Fulfill His Father’s Legacy and Uplift Bihar

Ara, Bihar - In a politically strong statement that can change Bihar's assembly poll scenario, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan declared on Sunday that he would contest the state's upcoming assembly polls. While speaking in a rally at Ara, Bhojpur district, 42-year-old MP from Hajipur made it very clear that his fight will be for Bihar's development, not political aspiration.

Chirag Paswan’s Emotional Call

While addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters, Chirag Paswan passionately recalled the slogan he coined in 2020 “Bihar First, Bihari First” reinforcing his commitment to realizing the dreams envisioned by his late father and party founder, Ram Vilas Paswan.

“I am the son of Ram Vilas Paswan. I will realise the dreams of my father and work for Bihar’s future,” said Chirag.

Reiterating his emotional and ideological connection with Bihar, Paswan said his candidature will not be limited to a political move but would serve as a mission to transform the state. His declaration signals not just participation but a recharged vision to influence the state's development narrative.

Chirag Leaves Seat Choice to Public

In a democratic gesture, Chirag Paswan said that the choice of the seat he will contest from in the Bihar Assembly polls will be left to the people of Bihar.
“It is for the people of Bihar to decide from which seat in the state I should contest,” he affirmed.
He emphasized that all his political decisions have always been driven by the interests of Bihar’s citizens, not personal ambition. He also made it clear that contesting from an unreserved constituency should not be misinterpreted as a hint toward his chief ministerial aspirations.

No CM Ambition, Just NDA Support

Chirag Paswan has firmly dismissed speculations surrounding his desire to become the Chief Minister of Bihar.
“Let me make one thing very clear. My contest will only ensure a better strike rate for my party, which would help the NDA,” he stated.
His clarification comes amid growing interest and speculation within political circles regarding his future role in Bihar politics. Paswan remains committed to ensuring maximum gains for the NDA alliance and believes that his participation will strengthen the alliance’s position across multiple constituencies.

Remembering the 2020 Assembly Rebellion

During the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls, Chirag Paswan's clever rebellion had been instrumental in disrupting the JD(U)'s performance badly, even though both JD(U) and LJP were then BJP allies. His fearless choices and honest election campaign created a new political discourse in the state, projecting him as an emerging young leader with a mass connect.

Slams Rahul Gandhi

In a sharp rebuttal to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Chirag Paswan dismissed Gandhi’s recent comments questioning the credibility of the Election Commission and EVMs, accusing him of defeatist politics.
“Rahul Gandhi has already accepted defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, that’s why he is making such statements,” said Paswan.
He also criticized the Congress for avoiding introspection and instead blaming institutions for its poor electoral performance.
“The problem with Congress is that when introspection is needed, they look for excuses. They should look within their own party,” he added.
Paswan asserted that blaming EVMs or the Election Commission is a weak excuse and does nothing to address the Congress party’s deeper leadership and ideological challenges. He predicted that Congress would not only lose in Bihar but also in other states like Assam and Bengal.
